"The smoking of cannabis, even long term, is not harmful to health."(1).

Cannabis has three sub-species, Cannabis sativa, Cannabis sativa indica and Cannabis sativa ruderalis. The main cctive ingredient of cannabis is THC (2 ).

In 2008 a study by the Beckley Foundation said cannabis was less harmful that both alcohol and tobacco (3 ).

A 1981 Coptic Study, showed no harm to brain or intelligence from cannabis use(4).

The 1968-74 1975 Jamaican studies showed:
No link to criminal behavior.
No Physiological deterioration
No "stepping stone"/gateway effect(5 ).

A Costa Rican study in 1980 found no damage cause by marijuana(6 ).

Despite the large numbers of people who use cannabis, cannabis accounts for very few emergency room, psychiatric and general hospital visits (7 ).

The Lethal dose of cannabis is extremely high. A person would have to ingest 20,000 to 40,000 times what is in one cannabis cigarette to have a lethal response(8 ).

Cannabis has been called dangerous because its chemically complex and has hundreds of chemicals. The numbers of chemicals are not important, what is important is what these chemicals do alone or together. Mothers milk contains hundreds of chemicals that cannot be synthetically replicated(9 ).

What is the effect cannabis on the immune system? There is no epidemiological evidence of an impaired immune system as claimed by Dr. Gaberiel Nahas, and others. Their experiments were only in test tubes and lab cultures and not on people. It also used unrealistically high doses of cannabis. Researchers challenged the immune system of 22 cannabis smokers and found no immune impairment (10). A 1988 study demonstrated an increase in responsiveness when white blood cells (of cannabis users ) were exposed to immunological activators. Thus questioning the damage to the immune system claim ( 11 ).

Compounds in cannabis have been showed to inhibit tumor growth (12 ). A researcher that looked into this Guillermo Velasco of Complutense University in Madrid said about cannabis anti cancer potential "Our findings support that safe, therapeutically efficacious doses of THC may be reached in cancer patients,"(13 ).
