It should be noted that hemp can produce four times as much pulp per acre as forested land(1 ). Hemp paper can be made without chlorine bleach, that produces Dioxin, another toxins(2 ). The bleaching of hemp paper will be done by using more environmentally friendly Hydrogen peroxide. This paper would last hundreds of years as compared to 25 to 80 years for tree paper(3 ). Because of this, there would be a 60-80% reduction of paper making chemicals that are dumped in the rivers(4 ). The paper manufacturing giant International Paper Co. seeing the possible future of hemp paper sent four reps to founding session of the Industrial Hemp Council. The head of International Paper's research department, later Curtis Koster, head of wrote in a memo ``Hemp will likely prove to be the more economic fiber among several (being investigated by IP) given its yield per acre and its substantially greater range of products.''
