In April 1957 Sidney Cohen MD, and Betty Eisner, UCLA doctorate in psychology, began giving 22 patients with minor personality disorders LSD. After six months they showed a 73% improvement rate(6). Research with psychedelics including LSD has continued into the new millennium the area's of research that show promise are anxiety, depression, pain, addiction. Another psychedelic that has also shown promise is ibogaine. Researcher Howard Lotsof said "29 of 35 patients successfully treated with ibogaine had numerous unsuccessful experiences with other treatment modalities." (7 ). Secret CIA Documents showed that the CIA had a close relationship Sandoz Chemical Company. The same document gave detail of an outbreak of "insanity" in a small French town, Pont St. Esprit.
