In two separate incidents two former female inmates of the Washington D.C. Correctional Treatment Facility accused guards of sexually assaulting them. They brought suit against the district and the operator of the private prison Corrections Corp. of America (CCA), for failing to supervise, train and failing to investigate their claims of sexual misconduct. Attorney for the plaintiff Deborah M. Golden said "Neither woman disputes their crime," and added. "But that doesn't mean rape was part of their sentence."(11 ).

The ACLU filed a class action lawsuit again the private prison operators at Walnut Grove Youth Correctional Facility (WGYCF). They claimed the youths were forced to live in barbaric and unconstitutional conditions. Some Staff exploited the detainees by selling drugs inside the prison, having sexual relations with them, excessive force was also used (12 ).

A Private prison in Idaho has a violence rate three times higher than that of government ran prison (13 ).

A private Prison in Youngstown Ohio had reports of assaults, stabbing, and an inmate revolt. When Youngstown tried investigating they (CCA) refused to let them in, and Youngstown had no authority to go in(14 ).

A federal grand jury in Tennessee awarded a teenager 3 million dollars who was hog tied, Maced. and thrown against the wall by CCA guards. This suit opens the door for 21 other teenagers who accused, CAA guards improperly punished them or assaulted them (15 ).

A worker in a private prison hit an inmate in the mouth and told the other workers to release him so he could "beat his ass."(16 ).

Human Rights Watch condemned a youth prison in Jena, La. The US Government asked a federal judge to enjoin Wackenhut's Jena Juvenile Justice Center from using harsh behavior control methods that included corporal punishment and gas grenades. On April 5, 2000 Wackenhut agreed to surrender control of its 15-month-old juvenile prison in Jena, La. That came a week after the U.S. Justice Department named Wackenhut in a lawsuit seeking to protect imprisoned boys from harm at the hands of guards and fellow inmates (17 ).
