All of us can't be beltway power brokers. Who've seemingly forgot our past. How do the rest of us fair? A police raid in the UK turned up tomato plants, instead of cannabis. Lulu Matheson who lives on the property said "I got a terrible fright and I couldn't understand what they were doing here because I knew we had nothing more than tomatoes in the window. I don't know what the neighbours must be thinking.". she also said "I started laughing because I knew they were tomato plants but it wasn't so funny when they frisked me and then started tearing the house apart.". The police were not dissuaded by reality, Mrs Matheson said, "They even 'arrested' Zac, our black labrador, and Moby, our Jack Russell, putting them in the back of one of the cop cars,". And according to Mr Matheson (her husband) they bought in drug dogs he said "And I just couldn't believe it when they brought sniffer dogs all the way from Alness, which is about two hours away." (1 ). On August 3 1989 Bruce Lavoie was peacefully sleeping in his room he shared with his young son in the village of Hudson, New Hampshire. At five in the morning he was awaken by a loud noise as his whole home was shaken violently. A battering ram had smashed through his front door. A band of armed angry men rushed into his apartment. Rising to defend his son Lavoie was shot to death by the cops. all that was retrieved was a cannabis cigarette butt(2 ). On September 14 1986, President Reagan pleaded that "for the sake of our children, I implore you to be unyielding and inflexible in your opposition to drugs." The country must have listened(3 ). The police stopped a truck that had what looked like cannabis in the back of the vehicle. An officer wrestled the driver out of the truck, slammed him down on the cement, and hand cuffed his hands behind his back. Next the policeman pulled out his snubbed nosed revolver .357 magnum revolver and fired two shots in the back of his head(4 ). |
